✅ Move Back to Japan

Visa has been gotten! I moved. I settled. I’m paying taxes. I’m paying insurance premiums. I’ve done my garbage duty. I consider my move to Japan complete!

My one book a month is going well, although I’m slightly behind schedule. I’ve read 9 books this year, the latest being the Red Rising trilogy which I enjoyed more than I thought I would. For the rest of the year, I have a few books lined up about Vineyards in France and their history.

❌ Continue my Japanese Studies

I’ve given up on this one. It’s just not happening. At least not at the pace I want it. I tried Japanese studies at a school, but my schedule (and motivation) just doesn’t allow it. I have noticed my Japanese has become better though, simply by speaking more, with everyone, so I’ll continue to do that. Interestingly enough I noticed my Kanji comprehension has become a lot better too. Not entirely sure what I can attribute this too.

🛠️ Get Back to Working Out

I’ve been running, sometimes, and I want to get back to the gym in the mornings. I have 2~ months to get back into the rhythm and I know I can do it.

Professional Goals

🛠️ Get one new customer in Japan

I somehow managed to get a new customer in France. I can’t say too much, but I’m super excited about this one. It’ll be an advisory role in gaming tech, super cool. I still have a few more meetings planned for this year, to get a customer in Japan. Lets see…

🛠️ Attend more events

I’ve been tired at night, so I have not attended more events. Maybe it’s just a convenient excuse. Lets try to attend 2 events before the year ends!

I abandoned this one in Q2. I still maintain it’s not the right year. Content creation takes a lot of time and energy, both of which I don’t have.

The Unplanned

Realizing I wasn’t happy adminning and modding Famichiki, I decided to step down by the end of November. This’ll free up a ton of mental space which makes me very, very happy. I wrote about my decision here: https://brian.jp/all-fried-things/

I also found someone to help me with BD/sales for Redscale, something I didn’t expect to happen, and things are moving faster than what I expected. There’s one more major shift I expect to happen before the year is over. But again, can’t spill too many beans lest I become a cow in a parallel dimension.

Conclusion

I concluded Q2 by saying I was happy with where I am right now, and I can say the same for Q3. Things are moving well with Redscale too, which I hope will play a much bigger role next year. Two more months for this year, tons of exciting shit ahead. Let’s fucking GO! 🚀
